  • British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to award direct degrees from the prestigious University of London and Staffordshire University. BUV’s new campus, with state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities and an iconic design, is indicative of 4IR and is being recognized as one of the best educational environments in Asia. Upon completion of the three phases, the entire BUV campus at Ecopark will have a total investment of up to US $80 million, meeting the training needs of 7,000 students.

Job Objectives

The Career Services Executive is in charge of value-added career services provision to the academic delivery of the University, support to implement personal career services and career activities. He or she is also responsible for providing excellent customer service to our students, lecturers, parents, and partners at British University Vietnam. The role is subject to change depending on the needs of the University.

Main Responsibilities

1. Career & Employment Services

  • Participate in planning and designing effective career and employability skill enhancement programmes for students

1a. Academic Value-added Activities

  • Act as the main point of contact for students, lecturers, relevant staff, and the assigned partners when it comes to facilitating value-added activities for Faculty. The activities include but are not limited to the following: guest lectures, field trips, and work experience related Modules.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in scheduling, preparing the logistic, escorting students to field trips/ hosting the event when necessary, and ensuring the smoothness of the activity.
  • Explore the professional qualifications and certificates to add value for the graduate employability of BUV students.

1b. Career support

  • Assist in providing high-quality and tailored personal career guidance and support for students in terms of career orientation, career planning, development of employability skills, and overcoming issues that could undermine their career success, as well as job/ internship application process (CV, Cover letter, interview, etc.).
  • Assist in advertising employment opportunities for students via emails, website, social media and on Campus and updating the employment opportunities database.
  • Assist in organising other career activities when necessary.

2. Operation & Administration

  • Advertise the career services presence and the particular activities within the University and with BUV partners, parents, workshops, etc., via emails, social media, and on Campus.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates of the services in charge…via Emails, websites, Facebook and Notice Boards.
  • Maintain and update the record and filing system of each student’s development portfolio and career progressions, job postings, employer contacts, industry partners,…etc.

  • Customer Services: Ensure quality customer services & timely responses to a variety of written requests from students and relevant stakeholders, i.e. faculty, staff, parents, partners, etc. for information relating to career services via telephone, correspondence and/or electronic mail
  • Administration: Assist in the administration of the operations of Career Services in charge.

3. Others

  • Participate and support in other extra-curricular activities of the department
  • Assist the department in preparing periodic reports and newsletter updates for Management and the University
  • Assist the Academic Support – Student Experience Department in other areas when the need arises
  • Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements

  • Vietnamese National
  • Must be a graduate from a reputable university, preferably in Business, Education, Human Resources, Career Guidance. Master’s degree holder is an advantage.
  • Experience working in an academic environment with international lecturers.
  • Experience organising academic activities, training programmes and career-related activities in schools.
  • Candidates who have experience and basic knowledge in Recruitment, Learning & Development, People Development will have advantages.
  • Knowledge of Career and occupational resources, labour market trends, opportunities, people development skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English with the ability to correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, organisational and networking skills
  • Content writing skills for writing up posts/content for social media, recaps, scripts
  • Flexibility and cultural awareness
  • Computer literacy in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Basic designing skills (via Canva, Photoshop) is a plus.
