Our BA (Hons) Tourism Management is designed to not only give you knowledge about tourism industry but also emphasis on the management and operational skills needed to succeed in this field. Students will be encouraged to develop well-researched, logical and integrated solutions to multifaceted problems in uncertain and dynamic tourism business contexts. You will be provided with knowledge about the tourism industry, both locally and internationally, and the diverse range of businesses that operate within tourism, including hospitality, travel tours, attractions, heritage, accommodation, etc.

With a practical teaching and learning approach, our Tourism Management students are always given the opportunities to gain real-life experience by going on a study trip to both domestic and international destinations to maximise the effectiveness of their studies and to ensure they are work-ready in the field in which they graduate.

At the end of your studies you should be able to:

Knowledge & Understanding

Demonstrate a systematic understanding and critical evaluation of key aspects of tourism management, and concepts to inform decision making and management in response to contemporary and global developments.

Learning

Carry out inquiry-based learning, critical analysis and evaluation, and creative thinking to provide opportunities and solutions for tourism business success. Demonstrate the ability to critically compare different events management approaches and use and appraise these appropriately.

Enquiry

Justify and apply appropriate and ethical approaches to research and investigation in the field of tourism management and apply skills and knowledge of enterprise in the pursuit of new events solutions and opportunities.

Analysis

Critically evaluate aspects of tourism management decision making, be entrepreneurial in their way of thinking and behaving, and in their approach to problem and opportunity analysis. Throughout they will demonstrate creative thinking, risk analysis and innovation.

Problem Solving

Demonstrate a range of approaches to solving complex and interrelated tourism management problems, displaying judgement of appropriate and different perspectives and the knowledge and understanding of what is right and ethical.

Communication

Demonstrate their ability of communicating complex information, ideas, problems and solutions

through a variety of media and display confidence in their communication and presentation abilities and their ability to network and interact.

Application

Apply, with reasoned judgment, skills, problem-solving techniques and knowledge to events problems, scenarios and opportunities to demonstrate their capabilities as entrepreneurs and enterprising individuals.

The travel and tourism sector are rich with opportunities for graduates that are willing to experience one of the many dynamic and flexible career patterns in a field that comprises many industries and sub-industries. Thanks to the skills and knowledge you will acquire at BUV and the possibility to develop your abilities in a truly international environment, you will find yourself ready to be employed at hotels and resorts to work as a manager or front desk clerk or join an airline, a luxury cruise operator and oversee operations. Restaurants, clubs, amusement parks are also potential employers as well as a wide range of event-management businesses and travel agencies.

Academic Requirements:

  • Aged 17 or over
  • One of the following qualifications:

– Vietnamese High School Diploma and Pathway to Staffordshire University Programme

– Pass 2 subjects at Advanced GCE (A-Level)

– An access programme passed at the required QAA-recognised standard for entry to Higher Education

– An award of the European Baccalaureate Diploma, with at least 60 percent overall; English at 60 percent

– An award of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 24 points; English at 4 points

English Language Requirements:

One of the following:

  • A proficiency test within the last 2 years:

– IELTS (non UKVI): 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component; or

– TOEFL IBT: Listening: 17; Speaking: 20; Reading: 18; Writing: 17

  • A proficiency test within the last 5 years:

– International Baccalaureate (taught in English) Pass in English B at Standard Level grade 5 or High Level grade 4; or

– IGCSE English: IGCSE English as a first or second language: Grade C; or

– Cambridge International English GCE O-Level/GCSE: English Language grade A – C

If you have not met one of the above requirements you need to complete IELTS Upper-Intermediate Course at BUV or equivalent.

You don’t need to provide evidence of English language proficiency if any of the following conditions apply: If you’re a UK national; If you’ve completed a full degree from a UK university.

Financial aid

The British University Vietnam (BUV) scholarship fund was established in 2018 with the goal of giving students the opportunity to study UK undergraduate and graduate programmes in an international learning environment.
